Abstract

Preeclampsia is one of the causes of the high maternal mortality rate (MMR)
in Indonesia. The incidence of preeclampsia in Central Java in 2018 was 8%, from the data
on the highest maternal mortality rate, which was in the Grobogan area with the highest
number of 6 cases of maternal mortality in Central Java, with the incidence of
preeclampsia), this causes preeclampsia to be the first cause of maternal death. Factors
that can influence the incidence of preeclampsia are age, parity, history of preeclampsia,
history of hypertension, mother's knowledge and perception, habits and support from
family.
Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of health education on recognizing the
danger signs of high risk of preeclampsia on the knowledge of primigravida mothers in
Temon Brati Village Brati District.
Method: This study used a pre-experimental approach with a quasi experiment, the
research sample was all primigravida mothers with a purposive sampling technique of 34
respondents. Statistical test using Wilxocon Signed Ranks test one group pretest
experiment.
Results: The effect of respondents' knowledge about the danger signs of pregnancy has
increased after counseling, namely in the good category as many as 26 respondents
(88.2%), enough for 2 respondents (5.9%), less than 2 (5.9%), and the category bad 0 (0%).
The results of the Wilxocon Signed Ranks Test p-value 0.000 where p <0.05 so that there
is an effect of counseling on pregnancy danger signs on the level of knowledge of
respondents in Temon Brati Village.
Conclusion: There is a significant difference between before and after giving counseling
on the danger signs of the risk of preeclampsia in primigravida mothers. It is hoped that
midwives or other health workers will be more active in providing counseling interventions
to pregnant women, because counseling is proven to be able to increase knowledge.
