HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN KELUARGA TENTANG METODE PERAWATAN PASIEN DM TERHADAP GULA DARAH PENDERITA DIABETES MELLITUS TIPE II DI KELURAHAN KURIPAN PURWODADI

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus or diabetes or diabetes is a disease characterized by blood glucose levels that exceed normal due to absolute or relative insulin deficiency. Behavioral examination of blood sugar levels is a management to detect and treat it early before it becomes severe. Family support includes four dimensions, namely family, assessment, instrumental and emotional support which are very important in motivating patients to realize appropriate diabetes mellitus management behavior.

Purpose: To determine the relationship between family knowledge about the treatment method of DM patients on blood sugar in patients with type II diabetes mellitus in Kuripan Purwodadi.

Methods: This study used a quantitative research design with cross sectional. The sampling technique used purposive sampling as many as 28 respondents.

Results: There is a relationship between family knowledge about the method of treating DM patients with blood sugar in type II diabetes mellitus patients and the correlation coefficient is moderate with a positive correlation direction.

Conclusion: There is a relationship between family support and behavior in carrying out blood sugar checks in Kuripan Purwodadi.
