Abstract

Background: Hypertension is when there is an increase in systolic blood pressure 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure 90 mmHg on two measurements with an interval of five minutes in a state of sufficient rest/quiet. Patients with hypertension need to apply a healthy lifestyle and treatment to prevent recurrent hypertension, one of which is by implementing a low-salt diet. With a light diet consumed salt at a dose of 3.75-7.5 grams per day, then a medium salt diet at a dose of 1.25-3.75 grams per day, and finally a heavy salt diet with a dose of less than 1.25 grams per day. day. This high-salt diet is followed by a cholesterol and fat diet, then a high-fiber diet and a low-energy diet.

Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between a low-salt diet and the incidence of recurrent hypertension in Temon Village, Brati District.

Methods: This study uses a descriptive quantitative correlation research with a cross sectional approach. The sample of this study was 30 community respondents who had hypertension by meeting the inclusion criteria taken by the total sampling method. The statistical test of this study used the chi-square test.

Results: Based on the results of the Pearson chi-square statistical test, it was found that there was a relationship between a low-salt diet and the incidence of recurrent hypertension in Temon Village, Brati District (p value 0.004 < 0.05).

Conclusion: The conclusion of this study was that there was a relationship between a low-salt diet and the incidence of recurrent hypertension in Temon Village, Brati District. And it is recommended for the community to always maintain a low-salt diet so that the incidence of recurrent hypertension does not occur.
