Abstract

Background : Malnutrition is the cause of death of children under 5 years old. Toddlers aged 2-5 years are a group that is vulnerable or vulnerable to nutritional status. One of the factors that can affect the nutritional status of children under five is low birth weight (LBW). Babies with low birth weight experience slower growth and development of their organs. This situation becomes even worse if LBW does not receive enough energy and nutrients, receives poor parenting, and often suffers from infectious diseases.

Purpose: To determine the effect of the method of treating low birth weight on nutritional status on children under five in the village mayahan kec. Tawangharjo.

Methods: This study uses a Pre-Post Test approach. This research was conducted from 27 to 28 July 2022 in Rw 3, 4, and 7 Mayahan Village, Tawangharjo District. The population in this study found 489 toddlers based on data from the Puskesmas. The sampling technique used is Pre-Experimental. Sample of 30 toddlers. The type of data used is primary and secondary data with a master table data collection tool. The analysis used is univariate and bivariate analysis.

Results: The results showed low birth weight with poor nutritional status in children under five in Mayahan Village the results obtained with the chi square test p = 0.003 (p = <0.005). The odds ratio value obtained through statistical tests is 10,706. This shows that there is a statistically significant relationship between low birth weight and poor nutritional status because p = <0.005, and it can be said that under-fives with low birth weight have a 10,706 times greater risk of experiencing malnutrition than toddlers with low birth weight. normal birth.

Conclusion: There is an effect of LBW treatment methods on nutritional status in children   under five in Mayahan village, Tawangharjo District.
