Abstract

Background: High risk babies are babies who are more likely to suffer death or illness compared to other babies from birth to 28 days of age. LBW infant mortality is 17 times that of normal babies. Care of high-risk infants can reduce the mortality rate of high-risk infants. Therefore, health education efforts are to increase the knowledge of parents, especially mothers, to be able to know the management or first aid for babies who are at high risk so that treatment can be carried out as early as possible.

Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of health education on high-risk infant care on the knowledge of parents in Temon Village, Brati District.

Method: This study uses quantitative research methods with the type of pre-experimental research with a one group pre post test design. The sample of this research is mothers who have high risk babies totaling 22 people with total sampling technique.

Results: Based on the results of the paired test, it was found that there was a significant difference between pretest and posttest knowledge with p value = 0.000 < = 0.005. Which means that there is a significant effect of health education on the care of high-risk infants on the level of knowledge of parents.

Conclusion: There is an effect of health education on the care of high-risk infants on the knowledge of parents in Temon Brati Village.
