Abstract

Background: Wound is a condition where there are body tissues that are injured or damaged. The damage can be caused by sharp objects, chemicals, animal bites, electric shocks, and so on. In general, injuries can be divided into two, namely unintentional injuries and intentional injuries (Lostapa, 2016). Accidental injury usually occurs in someone who has an accident, while intentional injury usually occurs in someone who performs surgery for a specific purpose

Purpose:The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of health education with the simulation method on the knowledge and skills of the Dangi Village community, Kec. Godong in the treatment of open wounds.

Methods: This research is a Pre-Experiment Pre-Post Test Design. The population is all the people of Dangi Village, Kec. Godong as many as 20 people. The sampling method is total sampling. The independent variable is the provision of health education with the simulation method, the dependent variable is the score of knowledge and skills of minor doctors in the treatment of open wounds. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test, it was found that each p value = 0.000, so that H0 was rejected, which means that health education with the simulation method can improve people's knowledge and skills in handling open wounds. The use of simulation learning methods can improve the community's ability to conduct social interaction and foster communicative relationships within the group. The high activity of students in the learning process evokes a feeling of direct involvement in learning, generates imagination, increases critical thinking because the learning process requires the community to always be active.

In the data score of knowledge and skills before health education, each had a median of 40 and 58.3 with a mean of 41.75 (25-75) and 62.47 (50-75). In the data score of knowledge and skills after health education each has a median of 80 and 91.6 with a mean of 79.75 (75-85) and 91.21 (83.3-100).
